  • The insertion site is cleaned with an antiseptic solution.

    • 4.

  • Local anesthesia is administered.

  • A small incision is made in the skin over the insertion site.

  • The artery is gently dissected and a guidewire is inserted into the artery.

    • 7.

  • The arterial line is inserted over the guidewire and into the artery.

    • 8.

  • The arterial line is secured in place with a suture.

  • The pressure transducer is connected to the arterial line.

    • 10.

  • The arterial line is calibrated.
